Sri Vijaya Puram (Andaman & Nicobar Islands), Feb. 11, 2026 —An 18-year-old second-year student of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Abhishek Kumar, was allegedly killed by his father during a violent domestic dispute at their home in Seven Hills Colony, Calicut. According to reports, an argument broke out between his parents, during which the father allegedly turned violent toward the mother.
Police say Abhishek intervened in an attempt to protect his mother when his father, identified as P. Ajay, an employee of the Andaman Public Works Department, allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon believed to be a machete. Neighbours alerted authorities, and the injured student was rushed to G. B. Pant Hospital, where he was declared dead due to severe injuries.
The accused father was arrested at the scene, and a murder case has been registered. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident. No official motive has been publicly confirmed, but reports indicate the fatal attack occurred after Abhishek stepped in to stop the alleged assault on his mother.
