Love Triangle: A Best Friend and An A*id Attack

When we hear of an acid attack, we instinctively imagine a male perpetrator targeting a female victim. In this shocking case, however, the attacker was the bride’s own best friend, who assaulted her with acid driven by unrequited love.

The act itself is utterly horrific and dastardly. An acid attack does not merely cause intense, agonizing burns—it inflicts lifelong physical and emotional trauma, disfigurement, and suffering on the victim.

22-year-old Shabnam’s wedding preparations were shattered when her close friend, Gulista, allegedly attacked her with acid just days before the ceremony. Exploiting their bond to gain entry into the home under the guise of wedding planning, Gulista’s actions were reportedly fueled by a obsessive jealousy over the groom.

What should have been a season of joy was instead consumed by a friend’s hidden malice. While Shabnam fights for her recovery at GTB Hospital, Gulista has been arrested.

As per law acid attack is a cognizable and non-bailable crime. Imprisonment for a term not less than 10 years, which may extend to imprisonment for life, and a fine to cover the medical expenses of the victim.
