Prema, 27, was arrested in northwest Bengaluru for the g*uesome mu*der of her boyfriend, Kiran. Under the pretext of a “romantic surprise,” Prema lured Kiran to her residence while her family was away. She convinced him to be blindfolded and tied up, only to douse him in an inflammable liquid and set him on fi*e in retaliation for his refusal to marry her.
Neighbors alerted authorities after hearing screams and seeing smoke, but emergency services arrived too late to save Kiran, who died at the scene. While Prema initially claimed the death was a self-harm and that she was in the bathroom during the incident, police grew suspicious of her inconsistent story. Under intense interrogation, she eventually confessed to the premeditated attack, admitting she had purchased the fuel in advance.
Evidence against Prema is substantial, as investigators recovered her mobile phone containing a video recording of Kiran’s final moments. The victim’s body has been moved to Victoria Hospital for a postmortem, and Prema now faces formal murder charges. Police are currently coordinating with Kiran’s family in Tumakuru to finalize the legal proceedings as the investigation into the exact timeline continues.
