A minor girl was molested in the Althan area of Surat, Gujarat, while walking home from her tuition classes. The accused, identified as Mohammad Aziz Ilyas, approached the girl and forcibly grabbed her hand. The girl immediately screamed for help, which alerted nearby shopkeepers and commuters who rushed to her aid. These alert citizens managed to catch and detain the man on the spot until a police patrol team arrived to take him into custody.
Following the incident, A large crowd, including local residents and members of various community organizations, gathered late into the night to demand the strictest possible punishment for the accused. To ensure a strong legal case, police registered an FIR under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in the presence of the girl’s parents and teacher. Authorities are currently scanning CCTV footage from the mall and surrounding buildings to gather further evidence, while maintaining a heavy police presence in the area to ensure the situation remains under control.
