Thai authorities arrested 46-year-old Australian Simon Carman at Bangkok’s Airport on Friday evening while he was attempting to board a flight to Perth. Simon is suspected in the m*rder of 17-year-old Thai girl Nong, whose body was found stuffed inside a large black suitcase dumped in a forested area near Pattaya. CCTV footage captured the pair entering a hotel room together, after which Carman was seen leaving alone dragging the suitcase.
Police discovered signs of a violent struggle and blood inside the room. The teenager’s naked body showed heavy facial bruising. Simon, who bore scratches on his neck and arms consistent with a fight, was tracked down after the girl’s friends reported her missing
During questioning, Carman confessed after initially denying the crime. He claimed an argument broke out when he tried to reduce the agreed 1,000 baht payment to 500 baht upon discovering the girl was menstruating. He now faces serious charges including m*rder and concealment of a body.
