Sunita(35) was dragged along for nearly one kilometre on the bonnet of her husband’s car in Meerut after she found him with another woman. She confronted her husband, Mayank Singh (37), a property dealer, who was inside the car with the other woman at a petrol station. An argument broke out and she tried to pull the woman out. Mayank then started driving while Sunita was still in front of the vehicle, forcing her to hold on as the car moved. She later said he twice tried to hit a road divider to throw her off and ass*ulted her after local residents stopped the car.
Police registered a case under sections for attempt to m*rder and criminal intimidation on the basis of Sunita’s complaint. Both Mayank and the other woman were arrested and the car was seized. The couple, married since 2012, has two minor children and had earlier faced marital disputes that were settled through compromise. Police are still checking the full sequence of events.
