A 12-year-old girl’s mother has alleged that two people raped her daughter repeatedly and got her pregnant. Uttar Pradesh Police on July 30 arrested bakery owner Moid Khan and his employee Raju Khan.
According to police, the pair had raped the girl two months ago and also recorded the act. The incident came to light when the girl was found to be pregnant in a medical checkup. The mother also alleged she was being offered money and threatened to settle the case as the accused were influential individuals.
The issue took political color as Moid Khan is local Samajwadi Party leader and his party came in his support.
Since then other political parties have jumped in the fray and made statements against the party and its members. BSP leader Mayawati came in support of the victim who belongs to a backward caste. Akhilesh Yadav on the other hand urged the court to provide security to rape survivors. He also made a controversial demand for a DNA test which is not a requirement for proving rape.
Politicizing rape cases turns into blame games and never serves the victim as we have seen in the past. We hope justice is done to the young girl.
