French Woman & 5 Children Rescued After 12 Yrs Imprisonment in Pakistan

In a disturbing case, Pakistani authorities rescued 54-year-old French national Sylvie Yasmina and her five children from a mud-brick home in Bara, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, near the Afghan border. Police raided after one of her sons escaped and alerted them. Her husband was arrested, and investigations into years of physical and psychological abuse continue. Yasmina and the children, showing signs of neglect and injuries, were taken to a women’s shelter in Peshawar, with arrangements underway for her return to France via the French embassy.

Yasmina moved to Pakistan in 2014 after marrying a local man, hoping for a new life. Instead, she and her children endured over a decade of effective imprisonment, daily abuse by her violent husband, and isolation in a dilapidated room. The children were never schooled.

Images circulating from the rescue show a stark and disturbing transformation. The woman who arrived in Pakistan years earlier appears to have been vibrant and cared for, but after over a decade in these conditions, she looked like hell — gaunt, exhausted, and clearly not taken care of in any meaningful way. Just looking at those before-and-after photos feels deeply disgusting; it’s heartbreaking to imagine anyone trapped in that kind of isolated, abusive existence for so long, deprived of basic freedom, medical attention, education for her kids, and human dignity.
