Bengaluru, Karnataka: A 23-year-old woman, Ramya Ullas, fought back and survived after her ex-boyfriend, Nagendra, abducted her, st*bbed her inside a cab, and triggered a car e*plosion on the Bengaluru–Mangaluru National Highway.
According to police, Ramya and Nagendra had been in a relationship for around 6 months. She had recently ended the relationship due to his abusive behaviour. Enraged over the breakup, Nagendra planned the attack. During the journey, he st*bbed Ramya and while she fought back to survive he told her they would “die together” before setting f*re to petrol bottle inside the vehicle. Ramya managed to jump out just moments before the car burst into flames. She survived with injuries, while Nagendra lost his life in the blast. The cab driver also escaped unharmed.
Police are investigating the incident as a premeditated attempt to murder the woman. The case has once again raised concerns over violence against women and the dangers of abusive and obsessive relationships.
