Kirandeep Kaur, a 24-year-old Indian mother, was st*bbed to d*ath in her bedroom by a man who broke into her home in Hayes, west London. This happened early on Sunday morning while she was sleeping. Her husband was found outside with stab wounds and taken to hospital. Their newborn baby was also in the house at the time. Her family believes the attacker used a sharp weapon in a racist attack.
Kirandeep had moved to the UK nearly two years ago on a student visa and later got a work permit. Family members and neighbours described her as a friendly & happy young Mom.
Police arrested 44-year-old Daniel Sean James after the attack. He had injuries from jumping out of Kirandeep’s home window. He was charged with attempted m*rder and carrying a knife, and appeared in court on Tuesday. Kirandeep’s family has called it a hate crime and wants her body brought back to India. Police say further investigations are ongoing and they have found no evidence of a hate crime so far.
