Madhya Pradesh:A 16-year-old girl from Jabalpur, was inappropriately touched by her Alcoholic father for a year. The girl’s father works in a private company and used to come home drunk at night. While she was asleep, he would sit near her, tamper with her clothes, and touch her private parts inappropriately.
He often made excuses of stomach pain to pull up her clothes. When the girl refused, her father would beat her severely. When she told her mother, the father beat the mother as well. Without the girl’s consent, she was forcibly married off to a 25-year-old alcoholic neighbor, who also used to beat her. Fed up with the constant harassment, the girl ran away from home on July 9. She came to Jabalpur, where she wandered around the city during the day and slept at the station at night.
On Wednesday evening, a policeman saw her at the station and took her to the women’s police station. There, she shared her ordeal and showed videos of her father’s actions that she had recorded on her mobile phone. The police summoned her mother. On Thursday, her mother and maternal uncle arrived along with the Shahdol police. Despite her refusal to return home, the Jabalpur police sent her back to Shahdol with her mother. The Shahdol police have initiated action, but the father has not been arrested yet.
