Sawai Madhopur,: The Rajasthan state education department has suspended Saraswati Meena, a teacher at a government senior secondary school in Sawai Madhopur, following severe allegations involving a missing ₹500 note in a Class 9 classroom.
According to student complaints, the teacher put forward an inappropriate demand, asking female students to remove their clothes so they could be searched for the lost money, while offering an alternative option to pay ₹500 out of pocket if they wished to avoid the invasive procedure.
A preliminary probe conducted by district officials later presented a different account of the incident. Investigators stated that only the students’ school bags were searched by a few classmates and that the teacher did not physically check or strip-search anyone herself. Despite these initial findings from the investigation, Saraswati Meena remains suspended as officials aim to protect the education department’s image while further inquiries into the matter continue.
