During the Student’s protest at Jantar Mantar, senior Delhi Police officer and Additional DCP Sandeep Lamba was caught on camera slapping a woman protester during the demonstration. The video quickly went viral, drawing widespread criticism and raising concerns over police brutality against protesters. Delhi Police later acknowledged that the officer had “lost control” during the protest.
However, instead of facing immediate suspension, Sandeep Lamba was only transferred back to his parent police unit and relieved from duty at Jantar Mantar. The incident has also renewed attention on other videos from CJP protest in which police personnel are seen using force against protesters.
