Murder shocks the low-crime nation
Kristina Joksimovic, a former Miss Switzerland finalist, was tragically murdered by her husband in Binningen, near Basel, Switzerland. The 38-year-old victim was allegedly strangled and dismembered, with her spouse later attempting to conceal the crime by using a blender and acid to dispose of her remains.
The crime surfaced in February when her dismembered body was discovered, prompting an investigation. Authorities determined that she had been strangled prior to the dismemberment. Her husband, identified as “Thomas” in media reports, confessed to the murder.
According to Swiss outlet FM1 Today, Thomas used a jigsaw, knife, and garden shears to dismember her body, followed by an attempt to destroy evidence using a hand blender and chemicals. His self-defense claim, citing an alleged knife attack by Joksimovic, was undermined by medical reports and an autopsy. The Federal Court in Lausanne rejected his appeal for release, referencing mental health concerns and his calculated behavior after the murder.
The couple, married since 2017, had shown signs of marital strain, with previous incidents of domestic violence reported to authorities.
