A woman in a burqa was travelling in the general coach of the Miraj–Pune Special Express when a man seated opposite her clicked her photograph without consent and attempted to generate fake obscene images using ChatGPT.
The incident came to light after another passenger occupying the upper berth noticed the man’s suspicious activity. He recorded a video and promptly alerted the railway police.
Police personnel reached the spot, seized the accused’s mobile phone and examined his AI chat history, which reportedly contained the objectionable image of the woman. With assistance from fellow passengers, the accused was apprehended on the train itself. Enraged passengers also assaulted him.
Railway police have registered a case against the accused and further investigation is underway.
