Sheetal Devi: The Archer Who Redefines Power

Paralympic archer Sheetal Devi (19) does not ask the world to look at her differently, she simply forces it to. At the 2026 Asian Para Games, the archer from Kishtwar walked away with two golds and a silver—once again matching the remarkable haul she delivered three years earlier. Born without arms, she shoots with her feet, and still outshoots the best in Asia.

In the individual final she fell behind early, later turning the match around and defending her title. Hours earlier she had already claimed mixed team gold. When the medals came, she held them up with her feet—an image that said more than any speech could.

She is already a Paralympic bronze medallist and the first woman without arms to become world champion in her sport. Now she has equalled one world record and set two more. Her next target is the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where she intends to compete not only against para athletes but among the able-bodied elite.

In a society that still questions the ambition of women with disabilities, Sheetal offers no apology and no soft narrative. She simply keeps winning.
