Anti racism is only skin deep!
Racism against Indians has reached epic proportions online over the last 2 years. India has not invaded a country, Indians have not engaged in terrorism, there is no obvious catalyst. In fact, Indians are a model minority in most countries.
What this racism shows is that under the surface it always existed. Openly racist people are included in governments and platformed on so-called liberal publications – only condition is the racism must be restricted to Indians.
Internalised racism of most Indians means even our own publications and influencers are failing to call it out.
It’s time that changed. Look at the battered face of Nurse Leelamma Lal and tell us it is not!
