A 24-year-old man from Assam, identified as Himan Gogoi, has been taken into custody by Meghalaya police for allegedly harassing schoolgirls in Shillong. The case came to light after a disturbing video surfaced online, showing Gogoi lifting a student’s uniform while using his mobile phone to take photos.
Following the video’s circulation, the East Khasi Hills police launched an investigation. A police team, led by Woman Sub-Inspector Lavinia Kongwang, travelled to Jorhat on May 28 to locate the accused. The team conducted a raid in Bamkukurachua village, where Gogoi was found hiding at a relative’s home.
During the operation, authorities seized the mobile phone allegedly used in the offence along with other incriminating evidence. Gogoi is now in police custody as further investigation continues.
