Assam Techie Arrested for Creating Fake AI-Generated ‘Babydoll Archi’ Profile to Harass Ex

Pratim Bora, a mechanical engineer from Tinsukia, Assam, was arrested on July 12 for creating a fake Instagram profile—“Babydoll Archi”—featuring AI-generated explicit images of influencer Archita Phukan.

He used advanced AI tools like Midjourney, Desire AI, and OpenArt to manipulate Archita’s photo into deepfake adult content, gaining over 1.4 million followers. Bora twisted Phukan’s old photos into deceptive AI-generated content and shared her morphed pictures with US adult film star Kendra Lust on the fake account.

What started as an act of harassment following their breakup quickly turned into a money-making scheme—he earned up to ₹10 lakh through subscription platforms and a Linktree page.

Bora had gone into hiding, but was located by tracing his phone. “We tracked the accused using IP address data and technical evidence. He was arrested in Tinsukia. His phone and laptop have been seized and sent for forensic examination,” a cybercrime officer said. He faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, IT Act, and sections on defamation, privacy, and cyber harassment.

Misuse of AI, lack of deepfake regulation, and the need for robust legal protections—especially for women unfairly targeted online—underscore an urgent gap in our digital safety framework that lawmakers can no longer ignore.
