Dowry Harassment and Abuse Lead to Forced Miscarriage
A disturbing case has emerged from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where 26-year-old Shanu (also Shanvi) endured a nightmare after her husband, Shivam Ujjawal, a physical education teacher, forced her to emulate Bollywood star Nora Fatehi through grueling three-hour daily workouts. His obsession with the star led to severe abuse, including denying Shanu food if she faltered. Matters escalated when he and his family allegedly administered an abortion pill, causing her to miscarry in July 2025. The ordeal began post their marriage in March 2025, with Shanu’s family spending Rs 76 lakh on dowry, only to face ongoing harassment.
Muradnagar police have registered a case against Ujjawal, his parents, and sister-in-law following Shanu’s complaint, detailing dowry demands, physical abuse, and the forced miscarriage. Authorities are investigating, with an FIR filed and efforts underway to gather evidence, including medical reports.
