Balasore, Odisha – A shocking incident unfolded in Balasore on Thursday afternoon when a man attacked his estranged wife with a knife in full public view. The accused, identified as Sheikh Amjad of Cuttack, had been in a heated conversation with his wife when the argument spiraled out of control.
Eyewitnesses say Amjad suddenly pulled out a knife and slit her throat, leaving the woman critically injured.
The victim collapsed on the roadside as stunned bystanders rushed to her aid. She was immediately taken to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College in Cuttack, where doctors described her condition as critical.
Meanwhile, locals overpowered Amjad on the spot and handed him over to police, who have arrested him and launched an investigation. The brutal daylight attack, partly captured on mobile phones, has sparked outrage and renewed concerns about women’s safety in public spaces.
