In a shocking incident in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a 20-year-old man named Jaanu alias Jaane Alam allegedly harassed and throttled a 14-year-old girl on a street. The assault took place on October 3, 2025, when the girl, who was visiting her grandmother’s village from Ghaziabad, confronted Alam for secretly recording her video and sharing it with others. Surveillance footage captured the moment he grabbed her by the neck and misbehaved, leading to her cries for help that alerted nearby locals.
The accused fled the scene but was apprehended by police on October 6 near the Shahjahanpur canal road following a brief chase. During his attempt to escape, Alam fell into a pit and sustained a fracture in his right arm, after which he received medical treatment.
A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), based on a complaint filed by the girl’s father. Police are conducting forensic and digital examinations of the evidence
