Surjit Singh from Firozpur, Punjab allegedly tied his daughter’s hands and pushed her into a canal. He was suspecting her involvement in a disapproved relationship. The father recorded the act on his phone. When the incident happened, the girl’s mother cried , “Meri beti kahan chali gayi (Where has my daughter gone?).”
Two days later, relatives alerted the police. During interrogation, Surjit Singh confessed, “Maine apni beti ko samjhaya tha lekin woh nahi maani, jiske baad mujhe yeh kadam uthana pada (I had explained to my daughter, but she did not listen, after which I took this step).”
Firozpur SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu confirmed a case was registered against Surjit Singh for attempted murder, and he was arrested. Police launched a search operation with divers in the canal, and forensic examination of the video continues.
