A 42-year-old autorickshaw driver was arrested for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter over several days after his wife left him due to severe alcohol addiction.
Police said, the accused is from Bhupani area, had sole custody of the Class 7 student after her mother left the house. He allegedly assaulted the girl repeatedly while intoxicated, returning home drunk almost every night.
The victim, in pain, confided in an elderly neighbour. The neighbour took her to a doctor immediately. Medical examination revealed injuries from repeated sexual assault. The girl disclosed her father was the abuser.
Police registered an FIR at Bhupani police station under POCSO Act for aggravated penetrative sexual assault and sexual harassment. Investigation continues as the accused was arrested the same day and sent to judicial custody.
