Shocking Betrayal: 19-year-old Rahul Bharti, a 2nd-year B.Com student at DAV College in Faridabad, ended his life after enduring weeks of extortion using AI-generated fake images and videos of himself and his three sisters. The perpetrators demanded ₹20,000, threatening to blast the deepfakes online if he didn’t pay—ultimately goading him toward self-harm in their final chat.
Rahul had withdrawn into silence, isolating himself. His phone was hacked two weeks prior. Police investigations point to a shocking twist: the main accused is Sahil, Rahul’s close friend and former schoolmate, who visited their home often, now under intense questioning for crafting and sending the obscene content via WhatsApp. Neeraj Bharti, Rahul’s cousin, stands accused of colluding in the plot—stemming from a six-month-old family dispute—after Rahul’s desperate last call to him hours before the end.
An FIR under BNS Section 108 (abetment to suicide), extortion, and cybercrime laws has been filed at Old Faridabad station, and investigations are underway.
