Father K*lls 6yo Daughter for Two-Child Norm of Panchayat Elections

A disturbing incident has been reported from Maharashtra’s Nanded district, where a 28-year-old man murdered his six-year-old daughter to meet eligibility criteria for gram panchayat elections. As per the state’s two-child norm, individuals with more than two children are barred from contesting rural local body polls.

Police identified the accused as Pandurang Kondamangale, a barber by profession, who had three children — a son and twin daughters. Investigators said he took one of the twin girls to Telangana and pushed her into a canal. He initially claimed the child was undergoing treatment elsewhere and attempted to mislead authorities, but later confessed during interrogation.

The accused has been arrested along with a village sarpanch Ganesh Shinde, who advised him on how to bypass the two-child rule.
