The burden of “safety” once again seems to fall on women.
During a match of the IPL2026 at Ekana International Cricket Stadium, Lucknow Super Giants( LSG) cheerleaders were seen performing behind a protective steel net. The move reportedly came after repeated incidents in previous matches where some spectators behaved inappropriately, throwing money with phone numbers and offensive messages written on them.
While the intention may have been to ensure safety, the step has raised a larger concern. Instead of strictly holding those responsible accountable, the solution appears to limit the women instead. It highlights an ongoing issue—whether such measures truly address the root problem or simply shift the responsibility onto women rather than correcting public behavior.
