According to reports, on April 24, a woman was gang-raped in front of her fiancé in the Khaga area after three accused attacked the couple in a garden. The accused assaulted the fiancé, held him captive for hours, filmed the crime, and threatened the couple. Two accused, Lalit and Yuvraj Singh, were arrested soon after the FIR was filed.
The main accused, Bablu Singh alias Bablu Thakur, who was linked to BJP Yuva Morcha, remained absconding for nearly 13 days. On the night of May 7, police claimed Bablu Singh was surrounded near the Sasur Khaderi river in Fatehpur after a tip-off.
