Married For Love Mu*dered For Property

A shocking dowry and property-linked murder case has emerged from Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, where 22-year-old Monika Nagar was found dead just three months after her court marriage to Anuj Chauhan on February 17, 2026. According to her family, Monika was continuously harassed by her husband and in-laws over property worth crores that was registered in her name, with pressure allegedly being built on her to transfer it.

The family claims that on May 7 around 2:50 PM, Monika called them in distress, saying she was being assaulted by her husband Anuj Chauhan and his family. Soon after the call, she went missing, while her husband fled from the spot. Investigations later suggested that after her death, the accused tried to dispose of her body by setting it on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.

According to police investigation details, neighbour Karan Rawal alias Kannu has been arrested in connection with the case. He have accompanied Anuj Chauhan and others to an isolated plot in Dadri, where Monika’s half-burnt body was later recovered. Police suspect the group attempted to burn the body on a heap of cow dung to erase evidence. Monika’s family has accused all the accused of murder over property greed, while police have registered an FIR and searching the remaining absconding accused.
