Betrayed Women Of Manipur

They stood against bullets for their men- only to face resistance when they asked for a voice in power.

In the 1990s, amid the violent history of tribal conflicts in Manipur and Nagaland, women stepped into conflict zones under the slogan ‘Shed No More Blood’ and became symbols of peace.

Years later, the same voices had to turn to the Supreme Court to uphold their right to reservation in urban local bodies, as provided under the law. This isn’t just one story- it reflects a deeper pattern where women are celebrated for sacrifice, but resisted when they seek decision-making power.
