Man St*bs 6 Random Women Out of Sheer H*tred

Noida: A 26-year-old accountant, Ankit Verma from Khoda, has been arrested for stabbing six women at random with scissors over three days between May 19 and 21. Police said Verma, a BCom graduate from Delhi University working with a private firm in Sector 62 since 2022, targeted women from behind on his scooter, striking them below the waist mostly in the evening as they returned from work.
Attacks took place in areas including Khoda, Sector 55-56, near Vanasthali Public School, Thapar Gate, and DAV School.

The victims included Soni (first attacked on May 19 near Thapar Gate), domestic workers Rinki and Guddi, computer repair shop employee Radha, Anshi Kumar (25), and Asha Bhandari (25). Two women filed formal complaints on May 21 under Section 118 of the BNS. Verma was traced through over 100 CCTV clips and arrested from Sector 55, where a pair of scissors was recovered.

Two years into marriage, Verma’s resentment grew from body-shaming over his thin build and skinny legs, along with domestic friction. He confessed to acting out of hatred towards women due to personal experiences, with no prior connection to the victims. Family described him as quiet and withdrawn. He has been remanded in judicial custody for counselling, and police are probing possible similar incidents in Delhi after more women came forward.
