Varanasi: A 13yo schoolgirl was returning home from school with her 17yo brother. During this time, Yashwant Raj began following them on his scooter. On a deserted road, he stopped both of them, made obscene gestures, and tried to forcibly make the minor girl sit on his scooter. The frightened brother and sister ran away from there and reached the nearby house of Deepak Mishra, shouting for help. They took shelter inside the house. The accused reached there as well and tried to pull the girl out by dragging her from the gate. The entire incident was recorded on a nearby CCTV camera.
After listening to the children’s account, the school principal filed a complaint with the police. The accused was again seen roaming near the school. The school administration immediately informed Dial 112. Based on the victim’s statement and the principal’s complaint, the police registered a case under serious sections and arrested him.
