An Indian man, Md. Jesil rescued a 3yo girl who was left hanging from a 2nd-floor window ledge in east London. Hearing screams from the street, Jesil rushed to the scene and positioned himself below the child alongside a police officer. When the girl suddenly lost her grip, Jesil caught her safely, preventing what could have been a fatal fall.
Jesil, who moved to the UK in 2021, later said his years of playing cricket in India helped him make the crucial catch. Recalling the moment, he said he reacted like a father and simply did what anyone would do to save a child. He is a restaurant manager and a father to five-month-old twins.
