A 25-year-old woman in Klang, Malaysia, jumped out of a moving e-hailing car after becoming fearful during the ride. Dashcam footage of the accident quickly went viral online @straits_times
Police stated that the 47-year-old driver had two female passengers in the car when the woman suddenly opened the rear door and leapt onto the road, reportedly due to anxiety and discomfort. The woman felt uncomfortable since the driver was repeatedly watching her through the rear-view mirror.
The driver stopped and checked on her. She later cancelled the ride and, with the help of a passerby, went to a nearby clinic for treatment. The driver has since filed a police report to protect himself from potential allegations, while authorities have launched an investigation for endangering life or safety. Police are also trying to locate the woman to assist in the ongoing investigation, as the incident continues to spark concerns about passenger safety in ride-hailing services.
