He D*ed Defending His Cousin From Stalker: Assam

20-year-old All Assam Students’ Union(AASU) leader Madhurjya Barman d*ed in a brutal machete attack in Assam’s Nalbari district while accompanying his 17-year-old cousin sister, who was being harassed by the accused.

Police say Rose Ali had been pursuing the teenager and threatened her after she rejected his advances. On Sunday evening, when Madhurjya and his cousin were riding to buy books, the accused ambushed them on a secluded road. Madhurjya suffered fatal injuries while trying to protect his cousin, who was left critically injured and is currently being treated in the ICU at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

The survivor identified as Rose Ali as the attacker. Police tracked him down the next day, but officials say he snatched a rifle from an officer and opened fire. Police returned fire, k*lling him in what they described as an act of self-defence.

The incident triggered protests by AASU members, while authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
