In a horrific incident in Delhi’s Mehrauli area, an 11-year-old girl was abducted, r*ped, and m*rdered early Monday morning. The child, who sold balloons to support her family, was sleeping on the pavement with her relatives around 5 AM when a drunk app-based cab driver took her away. The family raised an alarm and tried to chase the vehicle but failed to catch it.
The accused took the girl to a nearby jungle, sexually assaulted her, and m*rdered her before dumping the body. He then resumed his duties and even picked up another passenger. Police launched a swift investigation and, with the help of CCTV footage, arrested the driver within six hours.
The accused has been identified as Bashu Kumar Singh alias Bablu (25-29 years old). He confessed to the crime during interrogation and has a prior criminal record in Bihar, including cases of attempted murder. While being taken to the crime scene for reconstruction, he tried to escape and attempted to snatch a pistol from a police officer.
