A disturbing incident in Panvel’s Nandgaon village has sparked widespread outrage. A woman kicked her daughter outside an Anganwadi centre after the toddler refused to attend. The child fell onto the steps at the entrance but fortunately sustained no injuries. Initially she was thought to be a worker at Anganwadi.
Panvel City Police detained the woman for questioning after confirming she was the child’s mother. She expressed remorse, stating she acted in a fit of rage due to the child’s refusal. Police have forwarded a detailed report to the state Child Welfare Committee (CWC) seeking guidance on further legal action.
