Two minor girls from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, were rescued at the Ahmedabad railway station after being lured away through online gaming apps and social media by two men, 24-year-old Aqib Ansari and 21-year-old Syed Ibrahim. The suspects built trust with the minors over time, persuaded them to leave their homes, and planned to take them by train to Bengaluru.
On August 13, the girls’ families reported them missing at local police station in Jodhpur. Suspecting the suspects were transporting the girls out of state by train, Jodhpur Police alerted the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Ahmedabad, who formed a special search team to monitor incoming trains.
On August 16, RPF officers searched the Jodhpur–KSR Bengaluru Superfast Express and spotted Ansari on board with one of the missing girls. Ansari tried to run and threw his mobile phone out of the moving train to destroy evidence, but officers caught him and later retrieved the phone. Using data from the phone and live tracking from Jodhpur Police, authorities located Syed Ibrahim waiting on Platform with the second girl and arrested him.
Both men confessed during initial questioning, and police recovered a fake e-Aadhaar card alongside photos of the girls’ IDs from their phones as they continue investigating potential human trafficking angles.
