We have always maintained that in a legal system dominated by men, fake cases are not possible without men. Blaming women alone for fake cases is blame-shifting.
A court in Lucknow has sentenced lawyer Parmanand Gupta to life imprisonment and fined him ₹5.10 lakh for conspiring to file 29 false cases against his rivals. The cases included allegations of r*pe and m*lestation, with a woman named Pooja Rawat being used to make some of the complaints.
The dispute reportedly began over a property matter involving Gupta and two brothers, Arvind Yadav and Awadhesh Yadav. Pooja Rawat, who worked at a beauty parlour owned by Gupta’s wife, filed complaints against the brothers and their family. An investigation found that she was not present at the locations where some of the incidents were said to have taken place.
Pooja later told the court that Gupta and his wife had pressured her into making false allegations. Following a CBI investigation, the court convicted Gupta for his role in the case. Pooja was granted conditional pardon, and the court directed that its judgment be sent to the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council for further action against Gupta.
