Outrage Over ‘Insensitive’ Police Conduct in POSCO M*rder Case

Coimbatore: A video clip circulating online has sparked public outrage after senior Tamil Nadu police officials, including Inspector General (West Zone) R.V. Ramya Bharathi, were purportedly seen laughing and gesturing lightheartedly moments before a press briefing regarding the brutal rape and murder of a 10-year-old girl in Sulur, Coimbatore. The footage has led to intense criticism on social media over a perceived lack of sensitivity and professionalism from the officials, given the gravity of the crime.

This controversy follows a similar backlash against State Industries Minister S. Keerthana, who was also seen smiling during a media interaction on the same case. However, she later clarified her expression was misinterpreted. While the Tamil Nadu Police have confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the tragic incident, the viral footage of the officials has significantly intensified public scrutiny of the administration’s conduct.
