INDORE: A 24-year-old MBA student was found murdered inside a rented flat in the Dwarkapuri area of Indore, days after she was reported missing on February 10.
CCTV footage showed the victim entering the apartment with her classmate and boyfriend, Piyush Dhamnotiya. He was later seen leaving the premises alone. Concern grew when a message was sent from her phone stating she would not return home, after which her mobile phone was switched off.
On February 13, neighbours alerted police about a foul smell coming from the flat. Officers broke open the door and recovered her body.
According to police officials, the accused allegedly strangled the victim following an argument. During the investigation, authorities revealed that the accused also engaged in necrophilia after the murder. He remained in the flat for hours before fleeing the city.
Police traced him to Mumbai and arrested him with assistance from local authorities. During questioning, investigators said the accused also attempted so-called spirit-calling practices while on the run near Panvel.
The investigation is ongoing, with police examining CCTV footage, forensic reports, and digital evidence to establish the full sequence of events.
