Greater Noida: A 25-year-old woman, Deepika Nagar, lost her life after falling from the third floor of her marital home, 17 months after her marriage to Hrithik Tanwar.
According to her father, around ₹1 crore was spent on the wedding, including cash, gold, furniture, and a Scorpio car. Despite this, the family alleges that Deepika faced continuous mental and physical harassment over dowry demands, with her in-laws allegedly seeking an additional ₹50 lakh and a Fortuner car.
On the day of the incident, Deepika reportedly called her father and told him she was being assaulted. He later visited her in-laws’ house to calm the situation. Soon after returning home, he received a call informing him that Deepika had fallen from the roof.
The family says Deepika was declared dead at the hospital and claims injury marks were found on her body. Alleging murder, they filed a complaint, following which police arrested her husband and father-in-law in a dowry death case. Both have been sent to 14 days of police remand, while the postmortem report is awaited and further investigation is underway.
