A 24-year-old man from Varanasi helped his newlywed wife file a police complaint against a 60-year-old pathologist who sexually assaulted her repeatedly for six years. The survivor was just 14 years old when the abuse began on September 9, 2019. The accused, Dashrath Patel, a neighbour and owner of a pathology centre, has been booked under relevant IPC sections and the POCSO Act. He is currently on the run.
According to the complaint, Patel lured the minor girl into his centre and r*ped her. He continued to sexually assault and blackmail her for years using threats of social stigma and defamation. The repeated abuse continued till 2025.
The woman got married in April this year. After finding courage and support from her husband, she confided in him about the ordeal. The husband approached senior police officers, leading to the registration of an FIR at Mirzamurad police station. Police are now actively searching for the accused.
