Odisha, police rescued a woman from the Ratanpur Reserve Forest near Bhubaneswar on Sunday. The woman had taken a lift on a motorcycle from Khurda bus stand. The rider took her deep into the forest and tried to sexually assault her. She bravely fought back, escaped from him, and ran into the thick forest for safety.
However, she soon lost her way in the dense forest. She called the police helpline from her mobile phone. Around 50 officers quickly launched a search operation. Because her phone’s GPS was turned off, the police used drones, flare guns, and rocket fireworks to help her spot their location. The woman followed the lights and signals and was safely rescued.
The accused has been arrested, and a case of attempted rape has been registered at Infovalley police station. Police have also seized the motorcycle used in the crime for investigation. The woman was initially reluctant to file a complaint but agreed after police counselling.
