Kanpur: In what can only be termed extremely traumatic yet legally permissible, a woman found out her husband was secretly marrying again. She rushed to the wedding venue and stopped the ceremony. Her intervention has gone viral on social media, but the legal position may not be in her favour.
The incident took place at a marriage lawn in Shyam Nagar on Saturday night. The woman said that she married the groom, an interior businessman, in 2022 and moved to his home in 2024. She claimed that their matrimonial dispute is still pending in court and no divorce has been granted. After learning about the second wedding from the groom’s neighbour, she reached the venue with her sister and halted the ceremony, creating chaos among the guests.
Police reached the spot and took the groom into custody for questioning before bringing both parties to the police station. Officials said the matter is under investigation, and further legal action will be taken based on the complaints received and the findings of the probe.
