In Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, a woman constable publicly thrashed two men named,Daksh Pal and Subhash pal, for harassing a college student, repeatedly asking if they would trouble girls again as the accused cried, folded their hands and apologised. The student was returning home on Monday afternoon when the pair on a motorcycle demanded her number and behaved indecently. She reported the matter at a nearby police outpost; the men fled but were later identified through CCTV and local inquiries and arrested the same night.
On Tuesday morning, a women police team brought the accused back to the spot and beat them with batons while taking them to the station. Onlookers applauded the action, and a video of the incident has circulated. A case has been registered and further legal proceedings are underway.
