Conman Traps 12 Women Across 3 States Into Marriage to Extort Money

In a shocking scam uncovered in Kashi (Varanasi), Uttar Pradesh, a man identified as Sharaf Rizvi has been arrested for allegedly trapping 12 women across three states—Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan—into fraudulent marriages to extort money. Posing as a Hindu under aliases like Samrat Singh, Ajay Kumar, and Vijay, Rizvi wooed his victims with charm, fake identities, and promises of love, gaining their trust before pressuring them for cash and, in some cases, attempting to convert them to Islam. The ruse unraveled when a woman from Varanasi filed a complaint, alleging he extorted Rs 5 lakh and coerced her into conversion, exposing a decade-long scheme of deceit.

Sarnath police acted swiftly, arresting Rizvi after the complaint triggered an investigation, revealing his pattern of targeting vulnerable women with fabricated stories of wealth and stability. Authorities are probing his network, with evidence suggesting he married the women under false pretenses, exploiting their emotions for financial gain.
