A railway police constable named Ashish Gupta was suspended after a woman accused him of misbehaving with her while she was asleep on the Prayagraj Express, traveling from Delhi to Prayagraj on August 14, 2025. The woman, who was preparing for competitive exams in Prayagraj, recorded a viral video showing the constable apologizing with folded hands and pleading, “I will lose my job,” after she confronted him.
The incident happened in the early hours between Etawah and Kanpur while she was on her reserved berth. The woman immediately called the railway helpline and, upon reaching Prayagraj Junction, was questioned by female police officers; however, she opted not to file a written complaint. Despite this, the video evidence and her call prompted authorities to suspend Ashish Gupta.
The court and railway authorities took swift action, considering the seriousness of the misconduct and sending a strong signal about passenger safety and accountability among law enforcement on trains.
