India’s Blind Women Cricketers Claim Historic T20 World Cup Title

In a groundbreaking triumph that echoes resilience and skill, the Indian women’s blind cricket team clinched their maiden T20 World Cup title.
Defeating Nepal by seven wickets in the inaugural edition’s final at Colombo’s Surrey Village ground on Sunday, November 24 . Remaining undefeated throughout, India capped a flawless campaign that inspires beyond the boundary.

Electing to field first, India bowled Nepal out for 114/5 in 20 overs. Skipper Ekta Nimbal’s sharp leadership guided a tight bowling effort, with the team restricting the opponents’ scoring in the middle overs. In reply, India chased down the target in just 12.1 overs, losing only three wickets. Khula Sharir’s explosive unbeaten 44 off 27 balls—packed with boundaries—steered the chase, while openers set a blistering tone. Earlier, India had stormed past Sri Lanka and the USA in group stages, crushed Pakistan in the semis, and edged Australia in a thriller.

This victory marks a historic first for blind women’s cricket, spotlighting the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) and their dedication to inclusive sports. Captain Ekta Nimbal, beaming post-match, said: “This isn’t just a win for us—it’s a beacon for every girl who feels the world doesn’t see her.” Nepal, who earned their final spot by ousting Pakistan, fought valiantly but couldn’t match India’s firepower.
